COURSE DURATION: 1 Year

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: 

Cardio Thoracic Nursing / Critical Care Nursing / Emergency and Disaster Nursing / Neonatal Nursing / Operation Room Nursing.

The student seeking admission to this course should

  • Be a Registered Nurse and Registered midwife or equivalent.
  • Possess a minimum of one year experience as a staff nurses. 
  • Nurses from other Countries must obtain an equivalence certificate from INC before admission. 
  • Be physically fit. 

 

OBJECTIVES:

Critical Care Nursing

At the end of the course the student will be able to:

  • Describe the concepts and principles of critical care nursing.
  • Communicate effectively with critically ill patients and their family members.
  • Perform advance cardiac life support skills.
  • Apply nursing process in caring of critically ill patients.
  • Participate effectively as a member of the health team.
  • Organize and demonstrate skills in management of critical care nursing services.
  • Make a plan for organization of critical care units.
  • Conduct research in critical care nursing.
  • Teach and supervise nurses and allied health workers. 

Neonatal Nursing

At the end of the course the student will be able to:

  • Describe the concepts and principles of neonatal nursing.
  • Communicate effectively; foster actively a family –child relationship.
  • Demonstrate skill in providing essential newborn care.
  • Perform neonatal advance life support skills.
  • Apply nursing process in caring of neonates receiving intensive care.
  • Participate effectively as a member of the health team.
  • Organize and demonstrate skills in management of neonatal services.
  • Make a plan for organization of Level II & III neonatal units. 
  • Conduct research in neonatal nursing.
  • Teach and supervise nurses and allied health workers.

Operation Room Nursing

At the end of the course the student will be able to:

  • Describe the concepts and principles of operation room nursing.
  • Communicate effectively with patients undergoing surgery and their family members.
  • Perform advance life support skills.
  • Apply nursing process in caring of patients undergoing surgery.
  • Participate effectively as a member of the health team.
  • Organize and demonstrate skills in management of operation room.
  • Make a plan for organization of operation room.
  • Assist during surgical procedures and coordinate with the members of OR team.
  • Conduct research in operation room nursing.
  • Teach and supervise nurses and allied health workers.

Cardio –Thoracic Nursing

At the end of the course the student will be able to:

  • Describe the concepts and principles of cardio-thoracic nursing.
  • Perform advance cardiac life support skills.
  • Apply nursing process in caring of patients with cardio thoracic diseases.
  • Communicate effectively with patients having cardio thoracic problems and their family   members. 
  • Demonstrate skills in management of cardio thoracic services / units.
  • Participate effectively as a member of the cardiac care team.
  • Make a plan for organization of cardiac and thoracic units.
  • Conduct research in cardio thoracic nursing.
  • Teach and supervise nurses and allied health workers.

Emergency & Disaster Nursing

At the end of the course the student will be able to:

  • Describe the concepts and principles of emergency and disaster nursing.
  • Describe physiological, pathological and psychological aspects of conditions requiring emergency care.
  • Describe various types of disasters and their effects.
  • Perform advance cardiac life support skills.
  • Make a plan for organization of emergency units including triage and ambulance service.
  • Apply nursing process in caring of patients receiving emergency care.
  • Organize and demonstrate nursing skills in disaster management.
  • Conduct research in emergency and disaster nursing.
  • Teach and supervise nurses and allied health workers.
